I have loved sand dollars since finding my very first
incredibly fragile, bleached white skeleton above the
high tide line at Summercloud Bay, Jervis Bay, NSW.
It seems amazing that something so fragile could survive
in fossil form.
The Earthskin series
Animals and plants once living are laid down as rock
to give us evidence of this country's past history.
I am interested in patterning in ways that are not usually
accessed by quiltmakers. All fossils used in the work
are Australian. For the Twist Exhibition, curated by
Dijanne Cevaal, 2001.
