Equipment and fabric
- Half metre of firm base for the cards - like a light weight artist’s canvas or stabiliser
- About four fat quarters of background fabrics – this could be hand dyes or prints, but I think plains work better. They don’t have to be single pieces – this is just an indication of how much you might need in total
- Scrap bag of odds and ends of patchwork fabrics, transparent fabrics, oddments of silk or linen, evening fabrics et cetera. This can be quite a small bag as you are making small pieces
- Black, white or coloured organza or net to make a pocket on the back of the cards if you wish to tuck in a printed card
- Printed cards or a computer printout with your name, address and email address a bit smaller than 3 ½ x 2 ½ inches OR Pigma pen to write details on the back if you don’t have printed cards or a computer printout with your name, address and email address
- A machine in good working order with any feet that come with it
- Free motion foot and/or walking foot
Scraps or two fat quarters of thin-ish batting or Pellon . I use Matilda’s Own wool mix batting
- A piece of Vliesofix about the size of a fat quarter
- If you haverubber stamps that you like and an indelible ink pad put them in – but this is not important enough to rush out and buy them
- Small jam jar to hold water in class
- Threads –some cottons and a few embroidery threads and one metallic.
- Embroidery needle if you have embroidery threads.
- 1 tube of craft paint like Jo Sonja in a colour you wish to embellish with. I like gold, or the glimmering shimmery paints
- 1 medium sized water-colour style paint brush to apply paint
- A few bits and pieces like small charms, tiny seashells or buttons, feathers or small beads
- Your usual sewing things and a machine in good condition able to do free motion work
