Photocopies

I usually request that organisers set up the photocopying for this workshop as I have found that travelling by air with the amounts of paper it requires means I have to leave quilts at home! A workshop for fifteen people requires 420 sheets of paper without allowing for spares. If I am teaching it is several places it can mean a ridiculous amout of paper to carry.

I have written the requirement list so that the students know that they need to pay an extra fee for this, but I have left the amount of the fee open as I know costs can vary from six cents to fifteen cents a sheet. I cover the costs of the class notes, but ask students to pay for the design sheets and foundation sheets. There are three design sheets - they need two of each - one to work on and one to take home undamaged so they can make further copies if they want them. I like to hand out twenty foundation sheets, on the understanding that they can photocopy more for themselves. It is also a good idea if the organiser has a few spares of each sheet available for sale.

This means that they need six design sheets and twenty foundation sheets. I will cover the cost of the actual class notes - two pages - but if I am travelling a long way I ask that you also copy those for me.

Other items

These are minimal for this workshop. I need a machine to demonstrate on if I am flying, and I prefer a Bernina. This is because I can then carry the bobbins loaded with prefered colours and thread, and can, if it is a recent one (150, 160, 170 153), use my own foot for a demonstration of free machine quilting. I can usually borrow one briefly from one of the students.

You will need a few irons.

Please let students know about start and finish times, lunch arrangements and parking if this is relevant to your workshop.
