This piece was made for an exhibition titled Womens' Work.

Only childbearing is unique as womens' work. I thought of the sort of vessel a woman would be - monumental, confronting, beautiful, idealistic, incongruous in our hectic lifestyle.

I put my vessel on a pedestal to be lauded and revered in its child-bearing role. Perhaps it is also a comment on in vitro fertilisation.

Blue for lapis lazuli, turquoise, amethyst, the virgin's robes.

The icon is tarnishing and patched in our society as we try to combine our child bearing with too many other activities.
